Woman dies in M3 collision

m3_crashA woman has died following a suspected two-car collision on the M3 at Basingstoke.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The collision happened at 5.25pm today (May 16) and involved a white Volkswagen Golf and a blue Honda Jazz which overturned upon impact.

The driver of the Honda, a woman, sustained life threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at Basingstoke hospital.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a man, was treated for shock but not seriously injured.

Cash worries for Basingstoke residents

People in Basingstoke are becoming increasingly worried about the amount of cash they have tucked away for a rainy day, a new report has revealed.

Just over two out of three people (64 per cent) surveyed said savings of up to £5,000 would be enough to put a smile on their face, compared to four out of five people (82 per cent) in 2010.

Lloyd Webber Champions Music Hub

The Anvil has been singled out to play a key role in a pioneering new county music scheme.

Hampshire County Council’s Music Service will be a lead partner in a new-look Hampshire Music Hub.

The Arts Council of England announced on Friday that the music service would spearhead the new partnership.

The Anvil, as well as schools, colleges, and art galleries will all join the music network.

Winning Band to Headline

The five-piece were named winners of Battle of the Bands 2012 final in Fareham on Saturday.

As winners they have been offered a prime spot at Hampshire Welcomes The World - The Big Event at Staunton Country Park on July 8.
