A Hampshire charity will recoup all of the near £6million it lost in the Icelandic banking collapse, it was announced this week.
Naomi House children’s hospice, based in Winchester, had the money frozen in the British bank Kaupthing, Singer and Friedlander in October 2008. The banks administrators have indicated 75per cent of the funds will be returned and Hampshire Primary Care Trust this week agreed to a £1.5million grant.
The loss hit Naomi House hard, and charity bosses launched a high profile campaign lobbying politicians to guarantee the safe return of their £5.7million.
