And the Observer wants to know what resident and businesses think of the proposals to regenerate Basing View – Basingstoke’s premier business location. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is busy preparing to move in the bulldozers to raze two eyesore buildings a part of a multi-million-pound regeneration that should secure the long term economic future of the area.
City Wall House and Loddon House, a pair of ten story buildings are set to be demolished this month and will provide ready-made sites for investment and development into new office accommodation. It is also claimed leading hotel developers have expressed an interest in Basing View and will be marketing a site for a business class hotel this summer.
Cabinet member for property and finance, Cllr James Lewin, commented: “The demolition of City Wall and Loddon House will be a milestone in Basing View’s history and signal the start of an exciting period of change, improvement and redevelopment. We have a clear vision for the area that will not only transform Basing View as a business park and secure the economic growth of the town, but will also enhance the town’s overall image and reputation.”
The council will start the process of seeking high quality development partners to deliver a long term vision for the project in the summer.
