Cyclists saddle up to raise £60,000

The peddle power of nearly 1,200 Basingstoke cyclists has raised a whopping £60,000 for a Basingstoke charity.

St. Michael’s Hospice’s Big Wheel event took place on Sunday, July 28 and was a huge success, with riders from all over Basingstoke saddling up for a sponsored cycle of either five, twenty five or fifty miles.

Councillor Keith Chapman, the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, set off all three rides from Down Grange, with participants being cheered on by the team of hospice staff...

Wildlife hospital open for patients

A Hampshire wildlife hospital is once again open for business after moving to a new premises near Alton.

HART Wildlife Rescue, formerly of Overton, completed their delicate transfer this week, with six adult and six baby hedgehogs and 14 birds making the move as well.

The former hospital site, at Dellands, has now closed permanently, meaning June and Bob Gibbs can have their house and garden back to normal. For the last 14 years the couple have devoted themselves to caring for wildlife...

Seb's gift to become reality

A brave youngster’s final wish took a step closer to become reality when work on a holiday home for seriously ill children got underway last week.

Record numbers visit town music fest
