Basingstoke Bison recorded another week of back-to-back victories over the weekend, against Peterborough Phantoms.
The ice hockey squad netted 12 goals over the two matches, with the opposition only able to score eight in reply.
The two wins secured another four points for the Herd, who remain fourth in the Premier League, five points ahead of fifth-place side Milton Keynes Lightning.
The Basingstoke side trail one point behind third-place Slough Jets, but with a game in hand.
On Saturday, the Bison played the Phantoms at home, chalking up a 6-3 win for delighted fans.
The visitors opened the scoring with Phantoms man-of-the-match Maris Ziedens putting the puck between the legs of Bison netminder Dean Skinns.
After 16 minutes of the first period, the Bison were back on level terms as Ondrej Lauko fired in a pass from Steve Moria.
In the second period, the home side took the lead when a Lauko shot took a deflection off the skate of Ollie Bronnimann, beating Phantom’s keeper Stephen Wall.
The third goal came swiftly after, with Lauko netting his second goal.
The Bison stretched their dominating lead, netting their fourth, six minutes into the third period.
Victor Kubenko put on a show of individual skill to fire in his first goal of the game.
Into the final period, the Phantoms battled on, clawing one back with Ziedins scoring his second.
The visitors’ frustration showed as two Phantoms players were binned for two minutes following a check on Kubenko. The Slovak was also sent off for retaliating.
Nine seconds into their one-man advantage, Moria netted the Bison’s fifth.
Four minutes from time, the Phantoms scored again as Miller deflected a James Hutchinson shot past Skinns.
In similar fashion to last week, the visiting opposition pulled their keeper with a minute left in favour of an extra outfield player in a bid to get another goal.
The move backfired as Kubenko picked up the puck and fired from his end into an empty goal, securing the Bison’s sixth.
If Saturday’s win was comfortable, Sunday’s away game against Peterborough was a more nail-biting affair, with the Bison winning 6-5.
