Bizz starting to buzz

Week38_petition-2Radio lovers in Basingstoke now have even more listening options with the launch of a new local station.

Bizz Radio starting broadcasting on Monday, September 20 at 7am with the voice of the X-Factor, Peter Dickson, starting the count down.

Bizz Radio is aiming to be one of the first of many online radio stations to focus solely on the borough.

Director Phil Wickham said: “Bizz Radio is a vehicle to help us make a difference to a local area. This includes the people, the businesses, the local musicians, the sports people and everyone else that makes up Basingstoke.

“We are looking forward to the future as our listeners continuing to grow and more and more people in the town get to hear about Bizz Radio.”

The radio station will feature former Captial Radio presenters Russ Kane, Philippa Collins and Sandy Warr as part of programming.

The schedule also includes a show on Monday to Thursday from 7pm, aimed at profiling locally based bands.

Styling itself on the late John Peel, BBC's Mark Dennison will be presenting The Evening Session, focusing on the Basingstoke music scene.

The opening morning kicked off with former Captial FM presenter Neil Francis at the controls.

The 10am and 1pm slots were handed over to Sandy Warr and Kevin Spector.

Mr Spector said: “I have been at a lot of radio station launches and they never have gone smoothly. However today has been a pleasant surprise. Overall it has gone exceedingly well.

“With us launching in Basingstoke we are adding another option to listening. It is a new way of listening and if everything keeps going like this then things will really start to get exciting. Radio is diversifying, not changing and we are glad to be part of that.”
