efitA young boy was stalked on his way home from school by a man following him in a van.

Police have released an E-Fit of the man they want to trace in connection with the incident, which they believe could be linked to an another involving an 11-year-old.

On two separate occasions a 13-year-old boy was followed after leaving school in Basingstoke.

On November 15 and 17 at around 3pm the teenager was walking along Sutton Road and an unshaven man, with short dark hair and in his 20s  wearing a grey hooded top, followed slowly behind.

He did not say anything or get out of the the blue van, which police described as a similar 'shape to those used by British Gas'.

PC Chris Whittington said: “This could be quite innocent but may be linked to an incident on November 19 in Darlington Road, where an 11-year-old boy was offered a lift home from an unknown man driving a similar vehicle.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who has seen a man matching this description or a vehicle similar to this in the area.”
