Business folk take a stroll for charity

Trinity_Walk_PicA group of business people are putting down their briefcases and donning their walking boots in aid of a charity that runs a drop-in service for homeless people in Basingstoke.

The intrepid walkers hope to complete the 34-mile St Swithun's Way challenge in a single day on Saturday, September 10.

The former pilgrim's route runs along country footpaths from Farnham to Winchester Cathedral, and the group taking part hope to raise between £5,000 and £10,000 for Trinity Winchester.

The Hampshire-based charity provides practical and emotional support to people who are homeless, or vulnerably housed.

The Camrose Centre, in Vyne Road, is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays and offers people shower and laundry facilities, clothing supplies, meals and access to legal advice.

Phil Wilding is leading the party, which includes people from Wilding Butler Construction, Studio Four Architects, The Construction Partnership and TJP Solutions.

“I am not a walker and have never done anything like this before,” said Phil.

“I have been in training for several months and although it will be challenging, I am really looking forward to it.”
