Chineham Park Primary School, which was shut down by the council in July this year will be converted into a charity shop and activity centre for children.
The school in Shakespeare Road, Popley, was closed down at the end of term due to poor pupil performance and falling attendance numbers.
The former school building, which was retained by the council, has been given to charity Peace of Mind Care who are rebranding the centre as The Popley Spotlight Centre.
The centre will launch with an open day on Saturday, September 4, running from 9am to 4pm. The day will feature free 45 minute trial sessions in drama and dance.
The charity say that they will turn the building into a centre for all of Basingstoke. They will run a number of activities at the centre, including dance, performance choirs, theatre schools, gymnastics and street dance troupes.
Founder and Chair of Peace of Mind Care, Michaela Riley, said: “It is fantastic to be able to open up in the new site. There is so much stuff that we can do here.
“I am absolutely thrilled that we can give something back to the community. We deal with over 400 children each week. They come from all over Basingstoke and Deane, we have people coming in from Tadley as well as around the corner.
“Everything we do is affordable and open to the community and activities only cost three pounds. These activities are for everybody in the borough.”
Peace of Mind Care work with communities by running affordable activities for children and families, providing parental support and working with people from low income families.
The new centre will also work alongside Adonai UK, who raise money to help street children in Uganda. Profits from the centre will be split between Peace of Mind Care and Adonai UK
The Charity also said they will be supporting the food bank, Food Aid 4 U, who will running a food distribution centre from the Spotlight centre.
The centre officially kicks off on the first of the month and many of the activities will starting from September 11.
