THE two biggest challenges facing county bosses have been revealed. Getting more teenagers into education or training and improving the condition of roads are two of the toughest challenges facing Hampshire county council, according to residents.
Council leader Ken Thornber commented: “We want to find innovative new approaches that will build on what we already do such as our apprenticeship scheme and the Pothole Busters.” Although some of the targets were not within direct control of the council, Cllr Thornber added: “We will not shy away from these issues just because they present a challenge. “The aim is that by increasing effort and resources, working more with our partners and by looing at the issues in a different way we will see changes for the better over time.”
