Basingstoke borough council bosses will meet later this month to consider closing down the town’s only nightclub.
Liquid in Festival Place will have its premise licence reviewed in a licensing sub-committee meeting on January 21.
The meeting was originally scheduled for December 2, but the snow chaos of last month meant it was cancelled.
Basingstoke police licensing officer, Claire Wanless, wants the club to close for three months so officials can introduce measures to curb future violence.
Conditions include all door staff having to wear video equipment to record incidences outside the premises.
The club has the highest number of reported offences in the town’s nightspots. From September 2009 to October 2010, police were called to 91 incidences at the venue.
According to a police report submitted to the borough council a large majority of offences were caused by drunk party-goers.
All pubs and clubs have to follow targets set out by the Licensing Act 2003, the prevention of crime and disorder, prevention of public nuisance, public safety and protection of children.
Liquid has been accused of failing to promote the first three.
