Voters in Hartley Wintney and Odiham are being encouraged to complete their annual voter registration forms to ensure they do not lose their votes in 2011.
Hart’s Electoral Registration Officer, Mr Geoff Bonner, is sending forms to Hart households this week to update the electoral register.
Failure to register could results in people being unable to cast their vote for next years local authority elections and the proposed UK referendum on May 5 next year.
Mr Bonner said: “Registering to vote is simple, quick and easy. Just update the annual canvass form with the details of everyone in the household who is eligible to vote and return the form to us as soon as possible.
“This year’s general election was very high profile and we were pleased with the increase in registration shortly before polling day. However, some people may not realise that they have to register every year. By completing the annual canvass form that comes through your door, you can rest assured that your vote will be secured next year.”
