The stars of the future took centre stage for the final of Festival Factor.
To top-off Friday's Christmas celebrations, twelve finalists hit the stage in a bid to impress the judges and be crowned winner.
There were two categories, the under 18, and the over 18 categories.
Eleven-year-old Lauren Holmes took home the under 18's gong with her rendition of Florence and the Machine's Dog Days Are Over.
She was performing in front of hundred of supporters packed into Festival Square. The day was made even more special for the youngster as it was her birthday.
She said: "I never expected to win. It is really brilliant and the best birthday present I could wish for.
“I gave it my all and I hope I can become well known and famous now that I have won it."
Ann Quitoriano-Casteel took first place in the over 18 category with her cover of 80s classic, Alone by the band Heart.
Speaking after the event, she said: “It is great to win tonight, everyone was very good and it was going to be tough, but I am really pleased. It has showed my hard work has paid off.
“I am hoping this will give me the opportunity to be noticed so that I can have a career doing something I love and which is my love. I love to sing and I showed that tonight.”
The overall winner of Festival Factor now goes down to the public vote.
The winners were presented with a bag containing £200 worth of prizes by Basingstoke mayor Keith Chapman.
The finalists had to pass several rigorous rounds of selection. In May they joined hundreds of hopefuls in public auditions.
After passing through the auditions they went to the quarter-finals in July and the semi-finals in September.
Liam Dawett, who featured in the Basingstoke Observer earlier this month, was one of the finalists hoping to win over the judges.
Despite losing out to Lauren, the 15-year-old told the Observer that performing his cover of Lionel Richie's Hello was enough.
He said: “After I performed my song one of the judges said to me that I sounded like Michael Jackson, which for me is the compliment of a life time.
“After hearing that I did not care if I won or not, just hearing that was all I wanted.
"All of the other performers were amazing. They all had their own talents. The winner was really good.”
Festival Place Director Steven Connelly, said the will record a record of their own.
He said: “We have all been amazed at the amount of talent Basingstoke has to offer. All the contestants in the Festival Factor should quite rightly be proud of themselves and the performance they gave.”
