A Basingstoke cross-dresser is turning his life around by starting up a business - making fake silicone breasts.
Christopher Blair, 33, from South Ham, started his company Bountiful Bosoms after being made redundant from a job he held for over ten years.
Having lived as a woman since 1998, he set up his company with his wife, Denise, 51, and step-daughter, Helen, 26, hoping to capitalise on a gap in a niche market.
Mr Blair said: “I had experience in breast forms and breast options for transgendered people. We found that most, if not all, of the breast forms were either expensive or very unrealistic.
“I knew I could make better. Then after a bit of research, I decided that we could do it. After 3 months of design and work, I have developed a one piece chest prosthetic, or Cleavage Top, that allows someone without any breast tissue to appear to have breasts that can be seen and don't have to be hidden.”
He said that he hopes to undercut the market, charging £300 on a one week turnaround. He said he hopes to help people regardless of their need.
He said: “Of all people, we are definitely not ones to judge, we want to help anyone who needs it, be it transgender or people recovering from mastectomy treatment.”
Mr Blair said that his unconventional business had helped bring him back from the depression he started to suffer after losing his job and being unable to find work.
He said: “Trying to find a job and being shut down each time really does start to get to you. I normally am the most cheerful person. My family said that when I was down, then I really was down.
“Starting this company has really helped me, It is different to what people normally do, but we are here to help and people will look at what we give them rather than who makes them.”
