A Basingstoke charity is to launch a new event in it’s fundraising calendar later this year.
St Michael’s Hospice, based at Aldermaston Road, will stage its first 10km Sponsored Run this October and organizers hope it will generate more than £10,000.
The run takes place at Wellington Country Park from 9.30am on Wednesday, October 3 and could be a major fundraiser for the hospice, it is claimed.
Events Assistant Emily John said: “We are delighted to be launching a new 10km running event, running events are always very popular and we believe there will be many people in the local community who are keen to take part and get involved with fundraising for their local Hospice. We are hoping to have at least 500 runners take part and that the event will raise over £10,000 towards Hospice funds which is the equivalent of running our new service, Hospice at Home, for two weeks. It should be a great event and we really would encourage all the professional and amateur runners out there to get signed up as soon as possible as places will be limited.”
The run gets underway in the Waterloo Meadow at Wellington Country Park, in Heckfield, and is suitable for runners of all standards. Entrance to the event costs £15 which covers the running costs and participants are asked to raise as much as possible in sponsorship.
