A seven-year-old pupil at Oakley Junior School has spoken about her life since learning she was diabetic.
Doctors confirmed in April this year that Kimberley Evans from Oakley was suffering from type 1 diabetes.
The youngster told the Basingstoke Observer she was carry’s on as normal.
She said: “When I was first diagnosed, I did not really understand it. I was a little bit upset.
“But it’s just like life, but with some tests and injections, and I still do everything as before.”
Dad Chris said it was heartbreaking that his daughter had been diagnosed with diabetes, but managing the condition has become easier.
“It was devastating,” he said. “It was hard coming to terms with what it meant for her and us as a family.
“It is not going to go away until they find a cure. It is hard for her and us as parents.
“There is always that extra worry when she is out and about. But so far she has managed it so well.”
