The sky above Basingstoke was filled to bursting with colourful contraptions of all shapes and sizes during the town’s 19th anual Kite Festival.
Organised by the Loddon Valley Kite Fliers, the two-day spectacle saw a host of quirky kites over Down Grange last weekend.
The event offered visitors a chance to make their own or watch to demonstrations by some of the world’s top flyers including former world champion Rene Maier, from Switzerland.
For one youngster, 10-year-old Poppy Marshall from Worting, the day proved to be a fun family day out. Dad Andrew said: “It’s been a great day out. The kids can be active and have had fun trying to fly the kite. The weather is great today so that’s why we came down here.”
On Sunday town mayor Cllr David Leeks dished out prizes to schoolchildren who entered a kite designing competition.
