Festival Place welcomed a bit of old time glamour at the launch of a new computer game.
Festival Square was taken up by a 1940s style barber shop providing free haircuts and a wet shave to promote the launch of Mafia II.
Model Lucie Self added to the glamour and was dressed to impress at the event, kitted out in full 40s outfit.
She said: “We are hoping to give people a real mafia moment, letting them try a slice of the 40s with a real, open blade wet shave, which is something you don't see around these days.
“The day has been fantastic so far, I really like what I have to wear, I would have loved to have lived in the 40s and worn these glamourous clothes.”
Over 30 people took up the offer of a free haircut and some were brave enough to have a wet shave with an double edged, old style razor.
Builder Rob Reid, 30, from Hook, said: “I thought, and my wife had told me, that I desperately needed a haircut and shave so when I saw this I took up the offer.
“The shave was a bit scary at first but the barber was fantastic and a true professional. It was probably the best shave I ever had. It's a shame that the barber came down from Liverpool, which is just a bit to far to go for a shave.
Event Manager, Will Morris, said: “We have had an amazing reception in Basingstoke which has been fantastic. Sales have gone through the roof and a number have people have gone away all clean cut.”
Ms Self added: “I am really impressed by Basingstoke, what really surprised me was how modern it was, I thought coming here that it would be small, sleepy town, but instead it's a busy, exciting place.
The Mafia II set packed up and headed to Birmingham and London to continue the UK promotion.
