A man seriously injured in a collision on the A340 in Basingstoke has died.
David Hill, 59, from Statfield Road, Oakridge, died in Southampton General Hospital on May 11 from severe head injuries.
On April 9, he was walking along the carriageway, near the ambulance station, when he was hit by a blue Cadillac travelling towards Basingstoke.
The driver, a 59-year-old from Chandlers Ford, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He was bailed until June 27 pending further enquiries.
In a statement, Mr Hill’s family paid this tribute to the married father-of-three: “We are deeply saddened at the loss of Dave. He was married to Deb for 20 years and leaves two sons and a daughter.
“Dave lived life to the full and urged others to do the same. He particularly enjoyed his music, football and going to quiz nights. Dave had a great many friends and acquaintances and will be missed by all who know him.”
Anyone with information is urged to call Whitchurch Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting operation Jappic, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
