New figures published by the NHS show that no patients in Hampshire hospitals stayed in mixed sex wards in December last year unless with special justification.
The statistics have been welcomed by Sarah Elliott, the director of nursing at the Hampshire primary care trust.
She said that ensuring patients stay on same sex wards was important for patients privacy and dignity.
She said: “I am very proud that all of our local hospitals are able to ensure that patients who need to be admitted will not be sharing their ward with those of the opposite sex.”
