Overtime sequel at festival

Week35_Overtime_2-1A Basingstoke film maker will premiere the sequel to his original YouTube hit video at the Basingstoke Film Festival next month.

IT specialist, Geoff Harmer, 38, from Black Dam, will show his short film Overtime 2 at the festival held on September 24 at Central Studio, Basingstoke.

The sequel continues the story from the original Star Wars comedy spoof which has notched up over 50,000 views on YouTube.

Mr Harmer, said: “It has been about 18 months in the making, but it is now shot and it will be very exciting to see it on the big screen.

“The film was made a budget of about £40, that was just to buy some makeup and light sabre props, the rest relied on the enthusiasm and skill of everyone else.

“We had no intention at first of making a sequel, but people have been emailing me and asking about when the sequel is coming. So we just went out and started to shoot it and now we have finally made it."

Mr Harmer said that he hopes to take the 18-minute film onto the festival circuit and follow in the success of Overtime which has won numerous awards around the world, including the prestigious Association Motion Picture Sound Best Fan Film in 2009.

The father-of-three will also be raising money at the festival for The Nystagmus Network, which his son Paddy, 5, suffers from. The condition is an involuntary movement of the eyes which often seriously reduces vision.
