Pregnant women swineflu jab warning

Pregnant women in Basingstoke should protect themselves against swine flu by having a seasonal flu jab, according to the Department of Health.

For the first time, all pregnant women are being offered the flu vaccination, which now also protects against the H121 virus.

Although the end of the pandemic has officially been declared, health ministers have warned that the virus will still be circulating in Britain this winter.

This is the first year that the seasonal vaccination has been offered to pregnant women.

Vaccinations are available from all GPs in the borough.
