Report slams borough's affordable homes

An astonishing report claims Basingstoke council is delivering less than half of the affordable homes that are needed.

Housing and homelessness charity Shelter has produced a damning report that shows only 457 affordable homes are built in the borough each year – with independent experts commissioned by the council saying 933 homes need to be built annually.

The findings are part of Shelter’s Housing League Table, which provides local housing data.
