The final nail in the coffin of a doomed Basingstoke school was hammered in this week.
The threat of closure has long lingered over Chineham Park Primary School, in Popley, and its doors will slam shut this August, with pupils being moved to schools across the area. Hampshire county council leader Ken Thornber sided with Cllr David Kirk, Executive Lead Member for Children’s Services, on Monday after a long and bitter battle.
As reported by the Observer, head teacher Gwen Clifford was ousted at the end of last year but parents and councillors have fought to save the school.
