Christmas revellers in the Hart district were left disappointed after celebrations were abandoned due to the big chill
Heavy snow and ice meant that the Hartley Wintney Christmas Market and Hook Christmas Cracker on Thursday and Friday were called off.
The Christmas Cracker was cancelled on Friday morning after event organisers Bernice Wall and Peter Fountain decided at the last minute it could not go ahead.
The village celebrations would have seen performances by the Scottish Pipe Marching Band, Hook Morris Dancers and a festive market.
Mr Fountain said the safety of acts and spectators had been the overriding consideration and that conditions on A30 would have presented problems.
Ms Wall, who had been organising the event during the year, said: “Nobody is more disappointed than Peter and I.
“However, we had to think of safety first and with the conditions it could not safely go ahead.
“It is a community event and people were very understanding.
“Everybody know's about the weather and it has caused chaos for a lot of people, so the disappointment is not as unique as it feels.”
The pair said they are now planning to put on a Cracker event in the summer.
