Supermarket announces new charity partnership

Week34-SainsburiesSainsbury’s in Tadley has chosen SeeAbility as its Charity of the Year for 2010.

Staff at the Mulfords Hill branch have already started their fundraising activities with the aim of raising cash for SeeAbility’s Heather House in Tadley.

Heather House is a residential home offering 24 hour nursing and social care for 16 young adults with a visual impairment and more complex diseases such as life limiting Juvenile Batten disease.

Sainsbury’s Manager, Mark Hedley, said: “SeeAbility’s Heather House was nominated by members of the public and we were moved to hear of the work undertaken there.

“It was a popular and unanimous decision and we are delighted to know our fundraising efforts will make an important difference. Members of staff are planning activities throughout the year and we are sure our customers will be glad to support this worthy and local cause”.

Sarah Kenrick, SeeAbility’s Registered Manager, said: “Having the support of Sainsbury’s Tadley is a real boost for us. We believe that each person has the same human value and rights as anyone else and the right to services and community inclusion.

“Our specialist services promote an understanding of the needs of people who use them and are designed to encourage independence and enhance quality of life.”
