The hunt for a missing Basingstoke woman ended tragically last week after her body was discovered on farmland.
Police named the woman as Leanne Turnbull from Stubbs Road, Black Dam.
She went missing from Alton on September 14.
Police said her body was discovered by pheasant shooters near Neatham on the outskirts of Alton on Wednesday last week. Her family has been informed.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been passed to coroner.
A police spokesperson said: “Leanne’s family and partner would like to express their thanks to members of the public for all their help and support.”
The discovery brings an end to a desperate month-long search for the 34-year-old, who was last seen leaving Sainsbury’s supermarket early in the morning.
Ms Turnbull suffered from epilepsy and disappeared without her medication. She had been staying at her partner’s home in Orchard Lane, Alton.
Police issued several county-wide appeals and conducted stop-checks on motorists in the area in the hunt for the missing woman.
Underwater search teams also scoured Kings Pond and Hogmoor enclosure. A trace from her mobile phone showed her heading towards the Devil’s Punchbowl at Hindhead, Surrey. before the signal petered out on September 15.
And days after she went missing, her sister, Janet Tregear, launched a Facebook appeal, named the Big Search For Leanne Turnbull, which called for volunteers to help in the search.
Friends and family took to the streets, handing out leaflets to passers-by in the hope of turning up fresh leads.
Messages of condolences have been been posted on the social network. One poster from Kerri Louise Veck said: “You were taken too early for your time. It seems such a crime for someone so young to be taken from earthly ground.”
And Ms Tregear said: “May she rest in peace from the pain and torture inflicted on her in life.
“Find comfort in your new place.”
