Transport cops in cycle theft appeal

crime-policemenTransport cops are hunting four men following cycle thefts from racks at Basingstoke train station.

Officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) released CCTV images of the men wanted in connection with the thefts on Tuesday. Another image was made public following a similar theft in Winchester (not shown).

The thefts, which are unconnected, were committed between October 2010 and March this year. Despite extensive inquiries, the  investigation has failed to trace the men.

BTP inspector Mick Morris said: “Officers investigating each of these five cases have made enquiries, followed up numerous leads and circulated the images on police intelligence systems in a bid to identify these men, but to no avail so far.

“If you know them we want to hear from you.”

Inspector Morris said cycles should be registered online and their wheels locked when not in use.

Anyone with information is urged to call the BTP hotline on 0800 405040, quoting B9/LSA 12/07/11 and stating the number on the picture.
