Thousands of people have paid tribute to a Tadley teenager who was stabbed to death in Greece.
Robert Sebbage was attacked after he and four friends got into an argument with two taxi drivers in the early hours of Wednesday at the Laganas tourist resort, on the island of Zakynthos.
The 18-year-old was killed and pal Jordan Manson was seriously wounded in the incident. Three others - Steven Granston, Callum Lane, and Samuel Champion - received minor injuries.
Hours after reports of the incident surfaced, a Facebook page remembering the QMC and former Hurst Community College student was set up.
More than 7,500 people have since joined the R.I.P Robert Sebbage page and a further two more groups have been started.
Former Hurst teacher Chris Reynolds, said: “I am astounded that this could have happened to Robert and I can only imagine how his family can come to terms with this tragedy. His friends, who were also former Hurst pupils, also feature strongly in my thoughts.”
It has been reported that a 21-year-old man has been charged with his murder, and a 25-year-old man has been charged with complicity to commit murder.
Distraught mum Rhian and dad Andrew said they were shocked by what had happened. In a statement, the devastated family said: “They are just simply a bunch of nice lads, this is their first holiday abroad and they had all gone just to enjoy themselves.”
Robert was pictured alongside David Beckham in 2007 after he was chosen to be an England mascot against Brazil at Wembley. He had battled a rare neuropathic bowel disorder requiring regular trips to hospital.
He was an avid Reading FC supporter, and fellow fans paid tribute on the social networking site and called for a minute silence to be held in his honour.
Club manager, Brian McDermott, said: “It is very difficult to even talk about. He was only 18 years of age and a big Reading fan. It's awful, everyone just feels for his friends and family. We send our deepest condolences on behalf of everyone connected with the club.”
Mayor of Basingstoke and Tadley councillor David Leeks, a former Hurst pupil, said the town was deeply saddened by the tragedy.
He said: “Our thoughts go out to his family and friends who are grieving at this sad time, and to the families of the other victims of this tragic situation.
"Tadley really comes together when these sad things happen. It is just shocking and nobody should have to go through this.”
