Appeal for jewellery owner

Week35_police_jewellery-1Police believe that some unclaimed items of jewellery could belong to someone in Hampshire and are appealing for the owner to come forward.

The items, which were recovered from a bin on January 15 in Southampton contain, what police believe to be valuable and sentimental items.

Helen Ward, Burglary Investigation Coordinator, said: “We would really like to be able to reunite these items with their rightful owner. There are obviously some really sentimental pieces here.

“We have no idea where or how these items came to be in a bin in Southampton or if they were stolen from a burglary elsewhere in the county. If you recognise any of the items please do get in touch."

Found with the items of jewellery was an old telegram, although not dated, it may date back to World War One and is addressed to a Miss Berry of Little Hatherden, Andover.

There is also a news cutting which mentions a Private Frank Berry returning to Carlow having spent seven months in the trenches. Enquires in the Andover area have proved unsuccessful so far and police are now hoping some of these items may be recognised by someone living in Hampshire.
