Bungled burglary sparks police appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses after a bungled burglary in the town earlier this month.

The incident occurred at an address in Haydn Road, Brighton Hill, on Monday, March 1. A man attempted to break into a garage at around 1pm and was spotted by a neighbour, who approached the man and he ran off before getting into a white Vauxhall Vectra and left.

The man is described as white, in his late 30s, 5ft 9ins tall wearing a black leather jacket and jeans. PC Jindy Sokhi, of the Brighton Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “The person responsible for this attempted burglary was chased off by a local residents and we would ask anyone who saw him to contact us as soon as possible. We would remind residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious people in residential areas to police.”
