A man seriously attacked a young woman with cerebral palsy in an attempted robbery in Tadley on Wednesday, August 11.
At around 7.10am, the 25-year-old woman was approached from behind by a man as she walked along Mulfords Hill near to Sainsbury’s.
The man grabbed the bag she was carrying and punched the woman in the stomach, knocking her to the ground.
The man continued to try and take the bag from the victim but another woman intervened and the attacker ran off towards the supermarket.
The victim suffered pain to her stomach but did not require hospital treatment.
The man is described as black, in his 30s, between 5ft 6 to 9inches tall. He is of medium build with short dark hair and was wearing a black t-shirt, dark blue jeans and black and white trainers.
PC Will Butcher, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “Incidents like this are rare in Tadley and we want to speak to anyone who witnessed it.
“This was a distressing incident for the victim.”
“We are particularly keen to trace the woman who intervened. We believe her name is Lisa and she lives locally and we would ask her to contact us as soon as possible. She may have important information about the man responsible.
