Gang thugs beat up two men

crime-policemenTwo Lithuanian men were brutally attacked in broad daylight by a gang in Basingstoke this month.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault, which took place at 8pm on April 9.

The pair were walking in Norn Hill, opposite Bennett Close, South View, when they were approached by a group of five or six men.

The thugs asked if they were Polish before assaulting them. Both were knocked unconscious and one also received a cut eye requiring stitches and a dislocated wrist.

Officers have released descriptions of one of the men. He was white, aged 24, 6ft 2ins tall with short dark hair and had a goatee beard.

He was wearing a dark tracksuit.

PC Christopher Whittington from the Basingstoke Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: “This was a cowardly assault on two innocent men that resulted in some significant injuries.”
