People with learning disabilities can get their hands on a new booklet helping them to report crime to the police.
The booklet uses simple text and pictures to guide people through the process of reporting an incident.
The bookelet is published by Total Communications, in association with Hampshire police and Connect Advocacy.
It was developed after four people with learning disabilities realised they needed to make the process less daunting.
Stephen Hull, Angela Jestico, Hazel Windaybank and Jeremy Hatcher worked together with Inspector Simon Tribe to produce the booklet, which has a print run of 10,000 sent all over Hampshire.
Ms Windaybank said: “I really hope this helps people report crime to the police. We need to stop crimes happening against people with a learning disability but if it does happen they need to know what to do”
Inspector Tribe said: “Reporting a crime to the police can be a very daunting experience so hopefully this booklet will go some way to helping to make that process a little easier for people with learning disabilities.”
