Crime-police-tapeA teenage thug punched a woman in the face in an unprovoked attack in Oakley on Friday, August 20.

At 9.20pm a 24-year-old woman was walking along Highland Drive. As she walked, she passed a teenage boy walking on the other side of the road with a small black dog.

He shouted out to her asking if she had a cigarette. She ignored the call and continued onto Oakley Lane where she became aware of someone following her.

When she turned around she saw the teenager behind her. She told him she did not have a cigarette and he reacted by punching her in the face. He then ran off towards Highland Drive.

The victim suffered a minor injury and was very distressed about the incident.

PC Martyn Evans, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack and the victim was fortunate to only receive a minor injury.

“This was an isolated incident that happened in a residential area during the evening.”

The teenager is described as white, around 14 years old, 5ft 4ins. He was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up and walking a small black dog.

PC Evans said” We want to hear from anyone who was in the area on Friday evening and saw a teenager matching the description.

“If you have any information about who was responsible, please contact us as soon as possible.”
