A pair of robbers used hedge trimmers to break into a Basingstoke address occupied by a family who are new to the area.
The incident occurred sometime between midnight and 1am on Saturday, June 5 when the front door of the property, on Kenilworth Road, was smashed.
Once inside, the men stole a parcel containing numerous pairs of trainers.
During the burglary one of the occupants, an 18-year-old man, was assaulted outside the house before the men escaped in a silver Seat car.
The first man is described as white, in his mid 20s, short and of stocky build.
The second is described as white, in his mid 20s, taller and slimmer than the first man.
PC Paul Scott, from the Basingstoke Priority Crime Unit, said: “This was an awful attack on a family new to the area, who have been left extremely upset and distressed by what happened.
“This was an unusual incident witnessed by many people who were in the area when it happened.
“I would ask anyone who has any information, in particular any details about the people responsible or the vehicle that was involved, to get in touch.”
