Man threatened with knife in town

A man was threatened with a knife while walking along an underpass in the town last month.

The 24-year-old was approached by three men on Cliddesden Road, near Queen Mary’s College, between 7pm and 8pm on Tuesday, June 22. The group asked him for a cigarette and when he said he didn’t have any the men demanded his wallet and threatened him with the blade.

Nothing was handed over and the men walked off.

The first is described as white, aged between 18 and 25, large build with a shaven head and a tattoo on his neck. The second is described as black, aged between 18 and 25 wearing a purple hooded top while the third is described as black, slim build with an afro style hair.

PC Richard Wright, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “This incident happened during the evening at a time when there may have been other people out and about in the area. If you witnessed the incident or saw three men acting suspiciously in the area at the time please contact us as soon as possible. We would remind people to be vigilant when out walking alone and report any suspicious activity to police.”

Anyone with information can contact PC Wright at Basingstoke police station on 101 or by calling the Crimestopers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
