A VULNERABLE pensioner was left frightened after being followed home by a man claiming she owed him money.
The 82-year-old was walking home to Cavalier Close, Old Basing between 1.45pm and 2.15pm on November 1, when she became aware of a man following her.
He then followed her into the house saying she owed him £15 for her windows.
The frightened pensioner then went to collect the money. When she returned to her hallway she found the man nosing around her home. He left with the cash.
The man is described as white and 6ft tall. He was clean-shaven and had bright blue eyes with short dark hair under a black baseball cap.
He had a black zip-up jacket with the word Building in gold lettering on the left breast.
PC Jonathan Hayes, from the Basingstoke Priority Crime Team, said: “This was an unpleasant experience for an elderly woman living alone who is now frightened as a result of what has happened
“The man was in the area before the burglary and I’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen someone matching that description to get in touch.
“I’d also like to remind people to be vigilant against this sort of crime and keep an eye on elderly or vulnerable neighbours. Please contact the police immediately if you see anything suspicious in your neighbourhood.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Hayes at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers.
