Police appeal after gang attack

A GANG of youths attacked a teenager and stole his wallet in an incident earlier this month. At around 9pm on Saturday, February 6 a 19-year-old was walking along a footpath that leads from Kingsmill Road to Cranbourne Road. As he was talking on his phone he saw three young men leaning against some railings. One of the men approached him and grabbed his phone before the other two stole his wallet and punched him in the face.

The victim ran off and the attackers did not follow him. The group are described as white, aged between 16 and 20 and wearing dark hooded tops. PC Kerry Hayman, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “This was an unprovoked attack against a man walking along minding his own business.

“Although it happened at a time when the area would have been quiet someone may have witnessed it or know who was responsible. “We would ask anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.” Anyone with information can contact PC Hayman at Basingstoke police station on 101 or by calling the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
