Police are hunting a man who mugged a lone woman in Basingstoke.
The have issued an appeal in a bid to trace the suspect.
On Friday, December 15, a woman was walking along the footpath from the train station leading to Soper Grove.
When she reached the garage area at the bottom of Phoenix Park Terrace at around 8pm she was approached by a man who demanded her bag.
After a brief struggle the man overpowered her and she fell to the floor. The man grabbed a lilac Ripley bag and ran off towards the town centre.
The bag contained the woman's purse, phone, cheque books, filofax, driving licence and her bank cards.
The man is described by police as in his late 20s, white, 5ft 11ins and of slight build. He had dark brown hair about two inches long. At the time off attack he was wearing jeans with a cream coloured fleece.
“Fortunately incidents like this don’t happen often in Basingstoke,” said PC Michelle Wilson, from the Basingstoke targeted patrol team.
“But we take them very seriously and I’d like to hear from anyone who knows who was responsible for this robbery.”
