Police have released an e-fit image of a man following a serious sexual assault in the town earlier this month.
The incident occurred between 6pm and 8pm on Thursday, June 3 as the 35-year-old victim was walking home along Stukely Road. She was approached by a man who indicated that he knew her – but she did not recognise him. He went with her to her address in Penrith Road and sexually assaulted her.
The attacker is descried as white, aged over 25, about 5ft 4ins tall, athletic looking with a normal accent.
Detective Constable Rebecca Martinez, of Basingstoke CID, said: “This was a serious incident and we want to hear from anyone who recognises the image of the man. They would have been other people in the area who may have seen the man and the victim walking to the address in Penrith Road. If you saw them or recognise the man in the image please contact us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information about the incident can contact Det Con Martinez at Basingstoke police station on 101 or by calling the Crimestsoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
