Teen girl in robbery drama

A teenage girl had her cash and mobile phone stolen after a robbery in the town last week.

The 16-year-old was walking alone a footpath between The Vyne School and Gower Close when she was approached by a man who threatened her and stole her mobile phone. He then demanded money and she handed over around £12. She was not injured during the incident.

The attacker is described as white, around 25 years old, 5ft 4ins tall, average build with blond or brown hair wearing a light grey hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms or jeans.

PC Sarah Mills, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “There may have been someone in the area when this robbery happened during the afternoon. If you were in the area at the time and saw anything unusual, please contact us as soon as possible. We would remind people to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings when walking alone and always support suspicious people to police.”

Anyone with information about the incident can contact PC Mills at Basingstoke police station on 101 or by calling the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
