A E-fit has been released after a teenager was robbed at knifepoint in Basingstoke town centre.
Detectives are calling for witnesses to come forward with any information. According to officers, shortly before 1pm on January 11, a 17-year-old boy was walking through the New Road underpass between Caston’s Yard car park and the back of McDonald’s restaurant at the top of town.
The teen was approached by a hooded man brandishing a knife. He forced the youngster to hand over his black leather style wallet with a picture of Batman character the Joker on the front, and his Samsung Texto mobile.
The mugger is described as in his 20s, 6ft tall and broadly built. He wore a scruffy baggy zip-up hoody, and had a Polish accent.
Investigating, Detective Constable Natalie Stallworthy said: “This was a knifepoint robbery which occurred in broad daylight in a busy area of town, so someone must have seen something. Students from Queen Mary’s College regularly use this route to walk into the town centre, so may have seen a man similar to the e-fit picture.”
Anyone with any information should call DC Stallworthy at Basingstoke Police Station via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
