A teenager fled a busy supermarket car park empty handed after trying to steal a woman's shopping.
Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Basingstoke on Tuesday, September 14.
At around 2.30pm a woman was loading shopping into her car at the car park at Morrisons supermarket, Worting Road.
She was approached by a man who tried to take her handbag. The woman held onto the bag and the man then knocked her to the ground and ran off empty handed.
The victim suffered minor injuries following the incident.
The attacker is described as white, in his late teens. He is around 5ft 8ins tall of skinny build with mousey coloured hair. He had crooked teeth and a pale complexion. He was wearing a grey sports top and light coloured jeans during the attempted robbery.
PC Annette Russ, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “The store was busy at the time of this incident and we want to hear from anyone who witnessed it.
“It was a completely unprovoked attack and the victim was fortunate not to receive more serious injuries.
“If you have any information or you know who was responsible please contact us as soon as possible.”
