An afternoon of free environmentally-friendly fun is on offer to residents at the Ridgeway Community Hall in Buckskin on Saturday, August 13.
The green-themed event, which takes place from 2pm until 5pm, has been organised by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in a bid to raise awareness of climate change in the borough and actions people can take to reduce their carbon footprint.
Officers from the authority’s green team will be on hand to offer information on green issues including recycling and energy efficiency. There will also be the opportunity to get handy tips on how to save money on fuel bills, water saving information from South East Water, children’s crafts, green demonstrations from Campaign For Real Events and also fun and games with The Drumrunners.
Fairtrade refreshments will be available. Stagecoach will be encouraging people to leave their car at home by providing information on borough public transport routes.
The council's cabinet member for the environment, Councillor Elaine Still, said: “I hope this second free event, organised by the council, will be another great afternoon out for all the family. It is a great opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy all the entertainment on offer, while also picking up useful information on how to think and act a little greener.
