Midnight Walk announced in Basingstoke

A Basingstoke charity hopes more than 2,000 ladies will take to the borough’s streets for a Midnight Walk later this year.

St Michaels Hospice, based in Aldermaston Road, is hosting the event on Saturday, September 4 after the success of last year’s trek. In 2009, more than 1,200 ladies helped raise £125,000 for the hospice by walking 11miles through the boundaries of Basingstoke. Abi to star in town panto

Titmus-Bad-Fairy-CutoutAbi Titmuss has been confirmed as the star of this year’s Christmas panto at The Anvil.

Having wowed the town with her performance in The Naked Truth, Abi will return as The Wicked Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, which opens on Thursday, December 9. Food Festival set to be best yet

Hampshire ‘foodies’ are busy preparing for a month-long celebration with a host of top chefs showing there support.

Raymond Blanc, James Martin, Ed Baines and more are taking part in the tenth Hampshire Food Festival which gets underway on Thursday, July 1. Last year more than 150,000 people attended events all across the county, pumping £3.1million into the economy.

Ice fun at the fair

Thousands descended on a popular estate hosting its annual summer celebration at the end of last month.

Highclere Country Fair took place across the Bank Holiday Weekend promising an experience of country living at its best. A record number flocked to the estate to watch and take part in a host of rural activities. The event also saw top marksman take part in the third and fourth rounds of the Mitsubishi Motors World Series Clay Shooting as well as the Gundogs Championship.

Cooks step up to plate for charity

A ‘Ready Steady Cook’ fundraiser takes place tomorrow (Friday) for a pair of good causes in the town.

Mum Sharon Cowdrey has organised the event, where two teams compete in a cook-off to be judged by visitors, in aid of Charlie’s Children’s Day Unit at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital while also aiding Basingstoke youngster Jonathan Cowdrey ahead of the British Transplant Games.
