Not content to let the special effects be the only selling point, Pixar also managed to create a superb story with iconic characters, so much so that Toy Story remains, to this day, one of the best of the computer-animated genre. Eddie the Eagle takes on all challengers

Olympic ski jump legend Eddie the Eagle Edwards will be challenging all takers to a Ski Jump competition during Festival Place's Snow Fest.

The challenge is one of the many events held in Festival Place over the weekend of August 14 and15.

The shopping centre will be transformed during the weekend with indoor snow falls, a James Bond type Ski-Doo snowmobile, a 50ft snowman and a inflatable toboggan run.

Basing House to Re-Open

Basing House is set to re-open for a preview fortnight on Saturday 14 August following improvements to the unique site. The improvements were funded by Heritage Lottery and include a learning and community centre, a shop, a venue for functions and events in the 16th Century barn, as well as better parking and public facilities. An exciting launch event, The Battle of Basing House, will mark the official re-opening, taking place on bank holiday weekend August 28 to 30.

The St Michael’s Hospice lottery winners have been announced for the week beginning Monday August 2. Balloon LIft Off

Up to 50,000 visitors will be packing into War Memorial Park for Balloons Over Basingstoke which takes off on Friday August 6.

Balloons of all shapes and sizes will fill the sky the Basingstoke, including the worlds largest special dragon shaped balloon.

The event will kick off with 'Night Glow' on the Friday night where balloons will come to life with sound and light.

The  extravaganza weekend will also include mass balloon launches, arena acts and activities for the whole...
