'Step Out' for St Michaels at annual fundraiser

A Basingstoke hospice is hoping for a record-breaking event when a popular fundraiser returns later this month.

Stepping Out for St Michael’s Hospice will takes place on Sunday, April 1 on the Lord Portsmouth Estate, in Farleigh Wallop, Basingstoke. At last year’s event, 450 walkers took on the 12mile route, raising £13,000 in the process. This time around, visitors can walk either a five, eight or 12mile walk around the stunning grounds.

Pat Darty, events co-ordinator at St Michael’s Hospice, said: “People can pre-register for Stepping Out on our website and this will help to avoid long queues on the day, however people can also turn up and register on the day at the Barn at Home Farm up until 11am for the five mile and eight mile walk and until 9.30am for the 12mile walk. Stepping Out is a great way to get active, see the stunning grounds of the Private Lord Portsmouth Estate and raise money to support a fantastic local cause.”

Walkers set off from Home Farm past rolling fields and bluebells and on return refreshments will be provided. Entrance costs £8 for adults and £4 for children, while dogs are also welcome. There will also be a Look Out quiz to keep children amused.
