Young performers gear up for annual show

Talented dancers are gearing up for their annual summer show based on a much-loved literary classic.

Up to 66 youngsters from six to 24-years-old from JLD School of Dancing will tread the boards performing a story based on Victor Hugo’s novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame.  The studio, based in Swan Street in Kingsclere, will put on three performances across two nights at Queen Mary’s College, Cliddesden Road following two-weeks of intensive rehearsals.

Lucy Matthews, a dance teacher at JLD said she is excited and praised the youngsters commitment.  “We have been so impressed by the dedication and professionalism of our students during the workshop,” she said.

“They have worked really hard and we are very proud of them all. We perform a big show like this every other year and we are certain that this one will be our best yet.”

JLD has been providing dance lessons in ballet, top, jazz, and musical theatre since 1988. The shows are on August 12 at 7pm, and August 13 at 2pm and 7pm.  Tickets start at £7 and can be bought on the door.
