Naomi House given funding boost

Naomi House children’s hospice has been awarded a grant by Hampshire county council.

The charity, based in Sutton Scotney, lost over £5millin of its assets in the Icelandic banking collapse but has earned £3,000 from county bosses to help towards the cost of a sensory unit in jacksplace, a new building for life limited youngsters.

More than 500 children have been helped after the hospice launched in 1997.

Awarding the grant, council leader Ken Thornber commented: “I have been fortunate to visit the charity to meet and witness for myself the heart-warming care, compassion and true dedication of charity staff in providing respite care, terminal care and bereavement support for those incredibly brave children and young people, and their families.

“All the features within jacksplace are designed to ensure that they provide privacy, independence and dignity to all those young people using the centre and this grant builds on the county council’s strong support over the years, for the priceless work of all those at the charity, and I will continue to champion their contribution and dedication.”
